Desktop utilities

A Windows API client, shown without the customer’s brand, as an example of a tool made for one team.

The example is a desktop application for people who live in APIs. It sends REST, GraphQL, gRPC, WebSocket, and server-sent events. Collections can be imported from Postman, Insomnia, OpenAPI, cURL, HAR, and .http files, and exported again. Responses can be filtered with JSONPath or XPath.

Work is organised in workspaces and folders, with environment variables and template tags. Secrets are encrypted into the operating system keychain. The application does not phone home with telemetry, and it does not require an account on someone else’s cloud.

The interesting part, for a bespoke tool, is what was added for the team who asked. Their way of signing in, their API-key styles, starter environments, and workspace templates are part of the product, so a newcomer is not looking at a blank client. Shared collections can be picked up from a place the team already uses, and a workspace can be mirrored to the file system for git. This page does not use that customer’s name or their logo. The example is the kind of fit, not the account.

Plugins extend authentication, importing, and small template functions: identifiers, timestamps, encoding, hashes. The application is built with Tauri, Rust, and React, and the copy here presents the Windows tool, which is the form we were asked to show.
