A private garage for cars in Great Britain, with expiry reminders and a searchable Highway Code.
Car Companion is an Android app for a garage of cars in Great Britain. Each car keeps its MOT, insurance, vehicle tax, driving licence, SORN, and service history, with a photo and the dates. A reminder is shown while a date is today, or within a number of days you choose. The usual period is 30 days. A date that has passed stays on the car as expired and is not notified again. The garage, the photos, and the reminder settings stay on the phone. The app does not upload them. Cloud backup and device transfer skip those files. A copy leaves the phone only when you export it. Importing a copy replaces the garage, after you confirm.
The Highway Code for England, Scotland and Wales is stored on the phone and can be searched. An accident record keeps what happened, injuries, whether it was reported, the other party, witnesses, and photos with a time and, when the phone can provide it, a location. An information button opens what to do. A police-hat button opens the Road Traffic Act 1988 sections those notes are tied to. The notes are a reading aid for Great Britain. They are not legal advice. Northern Ireland publishes its own Highway Code. The phone does not call gov.uk or legislation.gov.uk. It downloads one library from an archive: the Code, one GOV.UK page on vehicle insurance, and four sections of the 1988 Act. Sign pictures stay on the GOV.UK page. This library stores the words. A note stays confirmed only while the words it cites still appear. If those words are removed, the note is marked as no longer confirmed and the new text is still shown.
